ART-A-WHIRL

The Northeast Art-A-Whirl was this weekend - it is the largest open studio and gallery tour in the U.S. We had so much fun around our neighborhood and other parts of Northeast. We were able to go inside the old Hollywood Theater on Johnson Street. It is amazing to think that it was operational up until 1987 - it looks like it has been abandoned for 50 years inside!

We walked further down Johnson and looked at different artists' booths and listened to some music. Addie was so enchanted with the band. She didn't dance or clap, but she couldn't take her eyes off them! On our way home, we stumbled across a castle jumper. It was part of the Art-A-Whirl event and we had it all to ourselves! Addie had so much fun, and we spent A LOT of time there over the weekend! We ended our weekend with a trolley ride around Northeast learning about all the different studios and galleries. I knew there were a good number of studios around Northeast, but I had no idea there were that many! It was a really fun event and the best weekend we had in a long time!

Garden 2010

Addie has been such a great helper in the garden this spring. She helped plant our annuals, pick out our vegetables, and waters them every night! I'm hoping she'll eat all the vegetables with the same enthusiasm!

tomatoes, beans, lettuce, cucumber, zucchini, squash, pumpkin, garlic, cilantro, dill, and sunflowers

Angie Corbett's Day Off

I took a personal day so that Brian and I could go to the Twin's game today!

I started my day with a visit of my new school for next year - Highland Park Senior High! I got to tour the building, peek into a few classrooms, experience passing time, and meet most of the math department. I am super excited about this new position. They are hiring 4 new teachers in the math department alone, so there will be a few others transitioning to a new place.

In the afternoon, we headed down to Target Field to watch the Twins vs. White Sox. The stadium was awesome, the seats were great, and the Twins won! The only thing I could have asked for was some warmer weather, although I am glad the rain stayed away!

Mother's Day

Addie and I got to spend a lot of time together over Mother's day weekend. Brian had to work all weekend, so it was just us girls. Even though it was pretty cold on Saturday, we went to the zoo. We stayed inside and Addie had a lot of fun running around in the cave on the Tropics Trail.

Sunday morning we went to brunch with my parents and Grandma. Addie has been asking to play at Grandma and Grandpa's house for weeks, so she was excited finally go over there and play in her playhouse! In the afternoon we came back to our house to plant some flowers in our pots and along our vegetable garden. Addie was a great helper and is already excited about planting our vegetables this weekend!

We finished our Mother's Day weekend with a wonderful dinner at Grandma and Papa's house. Addie was so tired that night, she fell asleep on top of her book!

Cabin Weekend 2010!

This past weekend we traveled to La Valle, Wisconsin to spend time at "Hazie's Cabin". This is the second year in a row we have made this trip with my AmeriCorps friends. We were finally able to meet "Baby Jo Jo", who is so cute! It's funny to think the last time we were there was to celebrate her pending birth, and now she's 6 months old! We spent our time there just hanging out and relaxing, playing yard games, and eating good food. Accordign to Addie, her favorite part of the weekend was riding the trike. The weekend had a bittersweet end to it with saying good-bye to the Miller's who are moving to Pennsylvania and the Wismer's who are moving to Colorado. I am certain we will still see them, but it may just be this one time a year for now on.
