Kate and Rick's Wedding

Our good friends, Kate and Rick, were married this weekend. We play kickball with them and they live in our neighborhood so Addie has also become very close with "Auntie Chips" and "Uncle Beard". So Addie and her friend Hazel were asked to be flower girls in the ceremony and were adorable! The wedding was at Beloit College in Wisconsin and Kate made a gorgeous bride and Rick looked the happiest I have ever seen him. All three of us had a lot of fun celebrating with them. I feel so blessed to have such amazing friends!

Happy Father's Day!

We spent the beginning part of Father's Day weekend with the Rodgers family. Max was able to meet all his remaining second cousins and great aunts and uncles. Addie had a blast playing with Carson, Cooper, Nicole and Sam.

Then we headed to the cabin to do some relaxing and spend time with the Corbetts. Addie and Riley went swimming, rode the tractor, drove the jeep, and went fishing. And Max was finally able to go for his first boat ride! But most importantly, both kids were able to spend all weekend with their favorite guy, Dada!

Grandpa

I was having a hard time deciding if I wanted to blog about this or not, but since I try to consider this as more of a journal, I figured this is an important page to write but will keep it short considering this is a public space. I spent nearly every day of my childhood at my grandparents house and they are a very important part of my life and my grandpa will be missed dearly. He adored all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much that even in the short 3 years that Addie was able to know him he made an impression on her. It has been hard knowing how to talk to her about this as well as her GG's passing this fall. We were reminded today of how much she understands when during mass she started crying and said, "Mama, I miss great-grandpa and GG." and all I could come up with for a response was, "I know, and I do too."

A Day at the Beach

We spent today at Lake Johanna and had the best time. To us, days like today are what summer is all about!

Summer is FINALLY here!

Not only does it finally feel like summer, but we got to attend some of our favorite summer activities this weekend! On Friday we went to the Windom Park Carnival. This is our third year attending, and were happy to see that it gets bigger and bigger each year! Addie played a bunch of games, played at the park, and had a root beer float for dessert.

On Saturday we got all of our plants for our vegetable garden. This year we are growing: grape tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, butternut squash, acorn squash, pumpkins, carrots, lettuce, green beans, and a variety of herbs. Just like three years ago, I am very excited to use some of this home-grown produce to make baby food for Max. When Addie was in that stage she only had 1 jar of baby food, and I’m hoping we can do the same for Max.

Sunday we went to the Grand Old Day parade and met a couple of our friends there. It is a great parade that they put on, and the girls had a great time!

Dr. Suess is on the Loose!

The Minnesota Zoo is currently holding an event that includes bronze sculptures and book displays from different Dr. Suess books. Addie was very excited to go there and try to find all the Dr. Suess displays she could. We took a picture next to each of them, and I think they are so funny because some of them are like a “Where’s Addie?!”
