This Week's "Firsts"
I think the scariest "first" we encountered this week is that Addie is now rolling over. Yikes! She is now mobile! We will now have to be very careful about where she is playing and always keeping an eye on her. She is pretty good at going from her tummy to her back (probably because she doesn't really enjoy being on her tummy) but has only gone from her back to her tummy twice. Both times she had on these little toy booties that she was reaching for. There is no doubt that the toys extrinsically motivate her. She also surprised us the other night by sleeping from 9:30 pm to 8:15 am! I'm sure this is a luxery we can't get used to, but at least we know what she's capable of and have a glimpse of what is to come.
In other "firsts" Addie went for her first boat ride and even got to drive the boat for a while! She tolerated the ride all the way around the lake, but was definitely not thrilled with her lifejacket.
Finally, she visited Habitat’s Women Build site. I think she is the youngest volunteer ever on site, but she did her job and provided much entertainment for all the fabulous women there! For 3 month pictures of Addie taken by our friend, Andrea, go to www.andreacole.net/corbett.

Another Christening of Sorts
Last night once I was done feeding Addie right before she went to bed, I set her down in her crib to watch her aquarium while I got myself ready for bed. I know she enjoyed the light show because she had a lot to say about it once it was over. Then when she was done telling us all about it, she must have realized it was time to sleep, so she started to suck on her fist and was out in minutes! So we decided, why move a sleeping baby? And so began her first night in her room in her crib!
She slept really well, and woke up at 3:30 to eat. When I went to pick her up I noticed that she felt wet. Under closer examination I realized she had blown out her diaper - poop was all up her back, on her pj's, on the sheets, and through to the mattress pad! Of course this would happen the one time she sleeps in her crib! But we got her cleaned up and fed, new sheets on, and it was off to sleep once more.
Then when I got her this morning, she had wriggled around so much that her diaper was halfway down her butt crack, and again, everything was wet! So off came the pj's and sheets and we are on our second load of laundry for the night. So I guess we will continue with the crib now, I just hope that all of the other stuff doesn't become routine as well!

An Official Member
Addie was baptized yesterday at St. Joan’s. She was one of nine babies there, and of course, the most vocal of them all! She was adorable - just chatting away the whole time. I like to think she was giving the younger babies a play by play so they could keep up. ☺
In other news we have already had our first summer vacation outing last week with a trip to the zoo with our friends. The new exhibit is really nice, although some of the animals were hiding as they are still getting used to their new home. I look forward to going back again soon to see them all!

School's Out for Summer!
Phew! I didn't think the last week of school would be this crazy since I am on maternity leave! I spent 4 out of the 5 days this week at HPA, oh, and Addie was there too! Monday and Tuesday I finished my student interviews for my masters paper. I am actually becoming more and more excited about it as I keep looking at new data. Cross your fingers for an August conclusion so I can get my raise in September! Then it was back on Thursday to have breakfast with my advisory and said good-bye to all my 8th graders at the picnic, and then Friday I moved my entire classroom - well thanks to the help of Laura and Keidra! Addie was such a trooper through all of this. She was passed around so many staff members, surrounded by hundreds of loud and crazy teenagers, and did it all with a smile. We then left Addie with her first "babysitters" (other than a grandparent) on Friday so I could celebrate all of this hard work with my coworkers, so a big thanks go to Ben, Kelly, and Zoe for that!

These are a few of my favorite things...
A couple of my favorite summer activities are gardening and farmers markets. This weekend marked Addie's first trip to the Minneapolis Farmers Market. She seemed to have a good time, with lots of wonderful things to see and smell. We then went home to plant all of our goodies in the garden. I am very excited for our fall harvest as I have big dreams of making a lot of baby food for her with our harvested sweet potatoes and squash!
On another note, my good friend Lindsay is back in town, and we celebrated her homecoming with a screening of the Sex and the City movie. It was fabulous to catch up with Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha! Oh, and Lindsay too!
