12 Month Stats
Weight: 20 lbs 8 oz (30%)
Length: 29" (50%)
Head: 18.125" (75%)
Number of Teeth: 6
Likes: Baths, bubbles, eating (sometimes eating bubbles), chasing Gracie (or any animal), looking at books, listening to music, putting things in and taking them out, cuddling with blankets.
Dislikes: Shots! Being told no, waiting, eating or drinking something different than us, getting nosed wiped.
Future Career Interest: Scientist. Addie had to get her blood drawn today and she didn't cry at all, but was mesmorized by watching her blood fill the vile (this is very different from her mother's tendency to pass out when she gets blood drawn!).

The Bear Whisperer
We will often go to the zoo on Saturday or Sunday morning, but for the past few months have been limited to just the indoor exhibits. This past Saturday we were finally able to venture outside to see some wildlife, and it was one of the coolest zoo experiences we have had. We had been told that the Grizzley Bears are most active in the morning, so we went to see them first. All three bears were fishing and playing in the water right next to the glass! There was one bear in particular that took an interest in Addie and it was so fun to watch the two of them interact!
We continued on our way and eventually had another wild close encounter with a Tiger! Addie wasn't sure what to think of this huge cat pacing right in front of her at first, but then she pointed at it and said "Jacie!" - that's Gracie in Addie words. It was so cute! So for the rest of the morning, any four legged animals was referred to at Jacie :)
Although the zoo was fun, the best thing lately is hearing Addie use her first "real" words. Mama, dada, and uh oh have been a few we've been hearing for a while, but now she is actually trying to listen and repeat some of the words we say to her and associate them with her surroundings. Although she is enjoying practicing vocabulary development with us, Addie has had zero interest lately in walking. I think she is just hoping we will carry her around forever. There are many problems with this, but the most annoying one right now is that she is getting heavy! So heavy we are planning on turning around her carseats this weekend (it will be fun to see how she reacts to facing forward)!

My 1st Birthday Party by Addie Corbett
Last Sunday I celebrated my 1st Birthday with many friends and family. Here are some of my favorite memories from that day:
My mama's friend Lindsay made these beautiful cupcakes for my party.
I loved it when everyone sang "Happy Birthday" and thought the fire on my cupcake was so cool!
The cupcake looked so good, that I decided to dig right in!
Then it was time to open gifts. My friends were very generous and gave me such thoughtful gifts.
I liked tearing off the pretty paper, and looking at all the cards.
My Grandma and Papa got me a butterfly rocking chair that is very fun to ride in.
It is also a good place to relax after a good party!
Thank you everyone for coming to my party. It was the best 1st Birthday Party ever!

Happy Birthday Addie!
We have had so much fun celebrating Addie's 1st Birthday! We had a party at Miss. Tina's yesterday with all of Addie's friends. Addie loved her cake and did a great job of smearing it all over her face and hair. Today Brian and I took the day off to spend with Addie and to take her to the Children's Museum. Unfortunately, Addie came down with a 103 degree fever later in the day, so we spent most of the afternoon napping and cuddling. We opted out of birthday cake tonight, but Addie loved her Cosetta's birthday dinner!

Let the festivities begin!
Addie's 1st Birthday celebration has begun! She received her first gifts yesterday from Grandma and Grandpa Engstrom. It was an outdoor slide and activity center that they thoughtfully delivered to our house (thanks!).
We have many activities planned for this week, including a birthday party at daycare, a trip to the Children's Museum, and the big party on Sunday afternoon. I have felt more excitement in Addie's 1st Birthday than my own birthday (which is often referred to as my favorite holiday). It has been so much fun reminiscing and planning for this special day!
